❝You’re right.❞
Elsa didn’t bother turning around as she watched Henry build his sandcastle. She’s agonized over this since she found out she was pregnant with Henry. She knew in her heart that the Southern Isles would not truly accept Amelia as their queen. She knew in her heart that the citizens did not truly want to fully become part of Arendelle, ruled under an Arendellian queen. They wanted — no NEEDED —an heir who was raised in the Southern Isles and whose heart belonged to the Isles.
She admitted their decision to raise their children mostly in Arendelle was rather selfish on her part. After years of keeping a door between her and her sister, she could not stand the idea of an OCEAN keeping them apart. She could hardly stomach the idea of her children being away from their family.
God help her, looking back, it was so selfish. The twins and Elisabeth grew up in Arendelle. They grew up with Arendellian culture, language, customs. Regardless of the fact that they were half Southern Islean, they are Arendellian through and through. Even if the Southern Isles accepted Amelia, her heart would belong to Arendelle. Same with Alexander and Elisabeth. They would still be [ foreigners ] to the citizens of the Southern Isles.
But Henry
If they raised Henry in the Isles, if he was surrounded by the people and their culture, he would be more accepted as the heir. He would be a Son of the Isles through and through. He would be able to see what the people needed faster than his other siblings would. While she knew all her children would put the people above all [ as they should ], she knew that the twins and Elisabeth would see it from foreigners eyes.
If Henry grew up in the Isles? He would see it through another lens and get a better view of what his people needed.
❝Henry loves it here. But he loves his siblings more and I hate the idea of separating him from his siblings. Then,❞ she paused and closed her eyes. ❝In the end, you know I will have to make frequent trips back to Arendelle.❞
